General

In Maths, we begin with a variety of activities planned around place value. Then we will focus on strategies for solving addition and subtraction problems. 99 Club continues and we ask for your ongoing help in supporting the children learning times table and division facts.

Our topic changes each term, full details can be found in the "Curriculum Information" section at the bottom of this page.

In science this term we will be exploring sound. Computing work will involve e-safety and word processing.

P.E. takes place on Friday mornings. Please ensure that your child comes into school wearing their P.E. kit on Friday.

Please label all items and ensure that children know how to tie their shoelaces and school tie.

Homework

Each week the children will be given 5 or 10 spellings, which will need to be practised at home. These spellings will be tested on Mondays.

Bug Club is continuing in year 4 and we thank you for your support with this scheme. Reading with your children, and discussing stories/characters with them has enhanced their success

Furthermore, times tables can be practised on Purple Mash (which your child has a login for) and/or other websites. If you would like any other information on these, please contact your class teacher.

Learning Behaviour in Year 4

Each term we focus on a different learning power. In Term 1 our focus is Engagement and each class has worked on a set of class rules to get the best out of every day. Our learning partners encourage and support our ideas and we are aware that mistakes are part of the learning process.
