Year 1 Information

All of the Year 1 curriculum information and newsletters

Welcome to Year 1

Our topic for Term 1 is Funnybones and the Wolf Did It! In Year 1 the children’s learning will be centred around the books   Funnybones and Little Red Riding Hood.

Year 1 Class Rules and Learning Partners

The children in each class have agreed some class rules. This helps them to keep their name on the ‘green’ area of the class behaviour chart (green is good!) Through good behaviour, cooperation and effort, the children can earn house points, which will be counted across the whole school each week. Look out for silver or gold slips that your child might bring home, this is to let you know that they have moved their name on the silver or gold area of the behaviour chart and have really impressed us!

Growth Mindset and Learning Powers

A growth mindset thinking can result in:

1
A love of learning and self-improvement.
1
Wanting to be challenged.
1
A willingness to work.
1
A willingness to apply effort and practice.

Our whole school learning power for the autumn term is Engagement and our character that represents that learning behaviour is the wide-eyed owl, called Barney.

Home Learning

We will send home a book next week, which we would like your child to cover with their favourite pictures, wrapping paper or photos. Please make sure the book is clearly labelled with their name too.

Home Learning Grid

At the beginning of each term we will send home a home learning grid in your child’s home learning book. Please choose an activity from the grid to complete with your child each week. We know that the children will have a lot of fun carrying out the activities.
